Your appointment with Concord Medical Centre will look a little like this..
One of our Clinical Pharmacists will review the medications you are currently taking to ensure that there aren’t any drug interactions. They will identify any potential interactions between cannabis and your current medications, including other herbs and supplements. This is a 15 minute phone call that will be scheduled on a day prior to your consultation with the doctor. Note that this appointment may not apply to all patients.
The day of your scheduled appointment will begin with a conversation with one of our nurses. They will go over certain details of your intake questionnaire to ensure we understood your answers correctly, and to get a general sense of why you are seeking medical cannabis. They are also available to answer any general questions you will have. You can expect to spend 15-20 minutes with the nurse.
Once you have finished speaking with our nurse, a cannabis-trained physician will assess your medical condition(s) and determine whether you are a candidate for medical cannabis. They will discuss your condition with you, review your medical history, and answer any questions you may have about your health and medical cannabis. If cannabis is deemed a good fit, you will receive a medical document allowing you access to medical cannabis products from a Canadian Licensed Producer. You can expect to spend 20 minutes with the physician.
Cannabis Coach Consultation
The final part of your appointment will be with one of our Cannabis Coaches, who is the cannabis product expert. Based on the recommendations of the physician, they will guide you in choosing an appropriate product and Licensed Producer. Once you have decided on your Licensed Producer, your Cannabis Coach will send your registration form, as well as your medical document and any applicable documents required for compassionate or other discounted pricing if necessary. You can expect to spend 15-20 minutes speaking with your Cannabis Coach. Moving forward, your coach is available to answer any questions regarding general issues with your product, issues with your licensed producer, dosing, side effects, or any other questions you may have. They have direct access to the physicians if your question are more medical.
Your Licensed Producer must approve and verify your registration. The verification process usually takes 24 to 72 hours to complete, but can take up to 7 days. Upon successful registration with your Licensed Producer, you will be contacted by one of their representatives via email and/or phone. Once you have confirmation that your registration is active, you can begin ordering.
Order & Delivery
Online ordering makes accessing your medicine quick and easy. You may find you need to activate your online account with your Licensed Producer, confirming your email address and password. We recommend keeping a safe record of your password and patient ID, as you may need this information to login or place an order. Most Licensed Producers are open during business hours to take your order by phone. Your medicine will be delivered to your door by express courier service; most Licensed Producers will offer free shipping past a set price-point.
Maintaining Your Prescription
To maintain your prescription, it is required that you attend regular follow-up appointments with your prescribing physician. This is mandated by the College of Physicians and Surgeons and also provides an opportunity for you to consult with your physician. You will discuss what worked and what didn’t, and make changes to your product or Licensed Producer selection if necessary. Please note that failure to attend your follow-up appointments will obligate us to cancel your medical document.
